Una flor que emula el rostro de un mono en Sudamérica asombra a numerosos observadores.

La Orquídea Mono, conocida científicamente como Dracula simia, recibe su nombre de manera curiosa. ‘Drácula’ hace referencia a los colmillos de vampiro de las películas de fantasía, representados por sus dos largas espuelas, mientras que ‘simia’ proviene del latín y significa ‘mono’. Las Orquídeas Mono tienen su hábitat en las regiones montañosas de Ecuador, Colombia y Perú, a altitudes que oscilan entre 1.000 y 2.000 metros sobre el nivel del mar.
