Christian McCaffrey’s “trip” to see the Wizard didn’t sit well with some fantasy football managers.
Taking to TikTok earlier this week, wife Olivia Culpo unveiled the couple’s “Wizard of Oz” Halloween costumes, with the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model, 32, channeling Dorothy while the 49ers star running back — who has been sidelined this season with Achilles tendinitis — dressed as the Tin Man.
The video apparently struck a nerve with some fantasy footballers, who griped about the status of their McCaffrey-led teams in the comments.
“I’m 2-6 in fantasy bc my first overall pick is hurt and dressed like the tin man,” one TikTok user remarked.
“Tell him I need him back on the field NOW!!!!! My fantasy team is in the trenches,” another posted.
A separate user remarked, “i’m a niners fan and i just traded for cmc. please bring happiness in my life.”
McCaffrey, the reigning AP Offensive Player of the Year, was en route to a Halloween bash with Culpo, whom he wed over the summer, as the 49ers enter the bye week.
Although the 4-4 Niners will not be on the field in Week 9, the team — and yes, even you, fantasy owners — will soon be getting a lineup boost from the 29-year-old Pro Bowl running back.
During an appearance Monday on “Good Morning Football,” NFL insider Ian Rapoport outlined a timeline for McCaffrey’s return.
“What teams do, they mostly go away during the bye weeks but the 49ers are preparing a bonus practice, which I think a lot of teams do,” Rapoport said.
“My understanding is Christian McCaffrey is expected to participate in that bonus practice, which will be the first time we see him — if reporters are allowed out on the field — in a while. He has been ramping up, he has been running on flat ground … I would not be surprised if he is out there on Nov. 10. That has been the target and he has had no setbacks.”
The 49ers visit the Buccaneers that Sunday afternoon.
McCaffrey is coming off a 1,459-yard season in which he rushed for 14 touchdowns. He also tallied 564 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.
He seemed set to play in the team’s Monday night opener against the Jets, despite the nagging injury, before he was abruptly ruled inactive.
That turn of events frustrated many fantasy owners who did not have starting alternatives before the last game of the week — and that anger has apparently only grown from there.
Culpo and McCaffrey married in June.
